Shares of semiconductor maker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) - Get Report rose more than 3% Tuesday after CEO Lisa Su tweeted her intentions to stay on the job amid rumors that she would leave her post to take the top job at IBM (IBM) - Get Report .
AMD shares added 87 cents, or 3.1%, to finish the session at $28.86. Year to date, AMD is up more than 60%.
Su's tweet was in response to an article by tech news site WCCFTech entitled Exclusive: Lisa Su Considers A Role Beyond AMD and Prepares A Successor, that cited sources saying that Su was eyeing the No. 2 role at IBM, with ambitions to take over the president and CEO roles from Ginni Rometty.
The article went on to name Rick Bergman, the former CEO of Synaptics (SYNA) - Get Report recently hired by AMD to head its PC and Semi-Custom business, as the favorite to take over as CEO once Su left.
