Shares of semiconductor maker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) rose more than 3% Tuesday after CEO Lisa Su tweeted her intentions to stay on the job amid rumors that she would leave her post to take the top job at IBM (IBM) .
Just for the record, zero truth to this rumor. I love @amd and the best is yet to come!— Lisa Su (@LisaSu) August 6, 2019
AMD shares added 87 cents, or 3.1%, to finish the session at $28.86. Year to date, AMD is up more than 60%.
Su's tweet was in response to an article by tech news site WCCFTech entitled Exclusive: Lisa Su Considers A Role Beyond AMD and Prepares A Successor, that cited sources saying that Su was eyeing the No. 2 role at IBM, with ambitions to take over the president and CEO roles from Ginni Rometty.
The article went on to name Rick Bergman, the former CEO of Synaptics (SYNA) recently hired by AMD to head its PC and Semi-Custom business, as the favorite to take over as CEO once Su left.
