During the first half of 2017, Amazon.com's (AMZN) shoe sales revenue have grown 18% above all of 2016, One Click Retail found, according to CNBC.
Amazon's shoe revenue jumped 35% in 2016, notably before the internet retail giant inked a deal with Nike Inc (NKE) and launched its private-label shoe brand "The Fix." These developments position Amazon to outpace total U.S. shoe revenues, One Click said, where sales are up about 5% so far this year.
Athletic-type shoes are Amazon's biggest seller, but sales of juniors' shoes for tweens and teens have grown the most this year. Back-to-school shopping is about to jump start both of those categories, One Click noted.
Adidas AG (ADDYY) shoes have become top performers on Amazon. Sales of a size seven Women's Superstar sneaker have shot up 890% year-over-year.
Amazon stock traded down mid-afternoon.
