Alphabet Inc-owned (GOOGL) Waymo is suing Uber Technologies Inc. for $2.6 billion for the alleged theft of one trade secret from the self-driving car company, Reuters reported.

Waymo has alleged that Uber has stolen several trade secrets, but this amount is in relation to one specific secret. Waymo said earlier this year in a lawsuit that former engineer Anthony Levandowski downloaded over 14,000 confidential files from Waymo before leaving to start his own company. Uber later acquired the company Levandowski started.

The total amount for all damages Waymo is seeking was not made public. Uber has denied the allegations, but fired Levandowski. The engineer had previously run Uber's self-driving unit.

Uber and Waymo both appeared in federal court in San Francisco on Wednesday to discuss the start date for a trial. Jury selection was set to begin Oct. 10, but Waymo asked for a delay, arguing that new evidence had come to light and would require more time to fully investigate.
