Alcoa to Shut Georgia Plant

It will sell two soft-alloy extrusion facilities.

Alcoa (AA) - Get Alcoa Corp. Report has agreed to sell its two remaining U.S. soft-alloy extrusion facilities in Warren, Ohio, and Plant City, Fla., to Golden Aluminum, but it will close a similar operation in Tifton, Ga., after failing to find a buyer.

Terms of the agreement with Golden Aluminum were not disclosed.

The plants in Warren and Plant City extrude aluminum into products used in the building, construction and commercial transportation markets. The plants employ a total of 330 people. The transaction should be completed by the end of September.

As for the Tifton plant, it will be closed by the end of October, Alcoa said Monday. About 200 employees work at the plant.
