Alaska Air October Traffic Rises

It sees a 5.9% increase in revenue passenger miles.

Air carrier Alaska Air Group (ALK) - Get Report said Friday that October passenger traffic at its Alaska Airlines division increased 5.9% to 1.374 billion revenue passenger miles.

Alaska's capacity during October increased 4.2% to 1.919 billion available seat miles compared to the same month a year ago. The passenger load factor for the month was 71.6% compared with 70.5% in October 2005.

The company said that traffic at Alaska for the 10 months of this year increased 6.0% to 14.953 billion revenue passenger miles and capacity increased 4.7% to 19.442 billion available seat miles. The passenger load factor was 76.9% compared with 75.9% in 2005.

Traffic at Alaska's Horizon Air division rose 9.4% in October to 228.5 million revenue passenger miles. Horizon's capacity during October increased 8.1% to 313 million available seat miles. The passenger load factor for the month was 73.0%, up from 72.2% last year.

Horizon's traffic for the 10 months ended October increased 10.2% to 2.260 billion revenue passenger miles and capacity for the same period increased 7.5% to 3.042 billion available seat miles. The passenger load factor was 74.3% compared with 72.4% in 2005.
