Alaska Air May Traffic Rises

said Monday that May passenger traffic at its Alaska Airlines division increased 7.9% to 1.496 billion revenue passenger miles.
Alaska's capacity during May increased 6.9% compared to the same month a year ago to 1.93 billion available seat miles. The passenger load factor for the month was 77.5% compared with 76.8% in May 2005.

The company said that traffic at Alaska for the first five months of this year increased 5.9% to 7.063 billion revenue passenger miles and capacity increased 4.1% to 9.359 billion available seat miles. The passenger load factor was 75.5% compared with 74.2% in 2005.
Traffic at Alaska's Horizon Air division rose 10.2% in May to 232.7 million revenue passenger miles. Horizon's capacity during March increased 6.1% to 308.8 million available seat miles. The passenger load factor for the month was 75.4%, up from 72.6% last year.
Horizon's traffic for the five months ended March increased 14.6% to 1.075 billion revenue passenger miles and capacity for the same period increased 10.4% to 1.48 billion available seat miles. The passenger load factor was 72.6% compared with 70% in 2005.
