will raise prices for zinc coatings by 70%, effective with shipments on April 1.
The premium is being added to AK Steel's current pricing extras for all galvanized steel products, including Zincgrip hot dipped, galvannealed and electrogalvanized products.
AK Steel said that the increase is being made in order to recover the record high cost of zinc that is used to coat galvanized steel sheet products.
Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
On Tuesday, AK Steel shares fell 38 cents to $11.38.
