Specialty gas distributor
said Wednesday it acquired most of the assets and operations of Dallas-based Union Industrial Gas, including 14 branches in Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas.
The operations that were acquired effective Nov. 1 had annual sales of $38 million, the Radnor, Pa.-based company said.
As part of the acquisition, Airgas has offered employment to more than 100 employees of UIG affected by the acquisition.
"We welcome UIG associates to Airgas and look forward to improving our ability to serve customers with a broad product range to meet their gases, welding and safety product needs," the company said.
The company's shares closed down 32 cents at $37.49 Wednesday.
