Airbus (EADSY) - Get Report is facing a "cash squeeze" and months of doubt regarding its A400M troop aircraft after buyers upheld penalty conditions for setbacks to Europe's biggest defense project, Reuters reports.

The A400M program costs 20 billion euro ($21.4 million), and Airbus has called for help as it continues to face technical problems.

On Thursday, Airbus CEO Tom Enders met with European buyers. Although the buyers maintained the penalties, the two sides agreed to keep talking.
