The list of companies hit recently with a public relations disaster just tacked on one more name - AdidasAG (ADDYY) .
Possibly upset from seeing its athletes lose to Nike's (NKE) - Get Free Report in the 121st Boston Marathon foot race on Monday, Adidas sent out a cryptic and otherwise insensitive email to its customers reading "Congrats, you survived the Boston Marathon!"
The 2013 Boston Marathon bombing was painfully brought to the minds of likely everyone who read that email.
In recent months, other major brands including PepsiCo (PEP) - Get Free Report and McDonald's (MCD) - Get Free Report also came under fire for damaging incidents - although to Micky D's defense, its Tweet bashing President Donald Trump was a hack on its account.
Pepsi, on the other hand, wasn't able to get off so easily. After the beverage company released an ad featuring reality TV star Kendall Jenner that appeared to make light of a Black Lives Matter protest, it was forced to apologize.
"Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding," Pepsi said at the time. "Clearly we missed the mark and we apologize."
