Thursday offered in-line fourth-quarter and full-year 2005 guidance.
Based on continuing operations, the company expects 2005 EPS of $2.47 to $2.53, excluding items and sales growth of 10% to 12%. On that basis, the company expects to earn 66 cents to 68 cents a share in the fourth quarter.
The Illinois-based health care company expects one-time charges of 2 cents a share for full-year 2005. Including these charges, GAAP EPS is seen at $2.45 to $2.51. Abbott also expects charges of 5 cents a share in the fourth quarter of 2004. Including charges, GAAP EPS is seen at 61 cents to 63 cents.
The consensus estimates are for EPS of $2.37 and 67 cents, respectively.
The company will provide further details on guidance when it reports fourth-quarter 2004 earnings Jan. 18.
