For the first time, Amazon (AMZN) - Get Amazon.com, Inc. Report will have exclusive deals for customers who visit one of its eight physical bookstore locations in the U.S. for its third annual Prime Day sale.
This year's Prime Day kicks off on July 10 at 9 p.m. ET and run through July 12 at 3 a.m. ET, but the in-store deals started early on July 5th and will be available through July 11th. People who aren't Prime members already can sign up for a membership on or before July 11 to take part in the big sales event.
This year, Amazon is utilizing its brick-and-mortar bookstores for four exclusive deals. The bookstores sell books that are highly rated on its website, as well as a host of other highly rated items, such as book bags, water bottles, electronics and Amazon devices.
Existing Amazon Books locations include Chicago; Dedham, Mass.; Lynnfield, Mass.; Portland, Ore.; San Diego; Columbus Circle in New York; Paramus, NJ and Seattle. In addition, Amazon already has five more locations planned to open later in 2017: on 34th St. in New York; Bellevue, Wash.; Los Angeles; San Jose, Calif.; and Walnut Creek, Calif.
Amazon made an estimated $415 million on its first Prime Day in 2015 and an estimated $525 million on Prime Day 2016, according to FBIC analyst Deborah Weinswig, and sales for 2017 could shoot even higher.
