Optimism stemming from small businesses has turned substantially since before the election of Donald Trump for president, according to a survey conducted by Bank of America (BAC) - Get Bank of America Corp Report.

The number of owners expecting the national economy to improve over the next 12 months spiked to 51% in the survey released today from 31% in a poll taken from August to October.

The number of owners expecting growth in their local economy rose to 49% from 36%.

Bank of America's survey was conducted through March and April, and questioned 1,300 owners of small businesses.
