Charles Schwab( SCH) said it earned 12 cents a share in the third quarter excluding certain items, hitting analysts' estimates.

The company earned $166 million in the period, compared with $144 million, or 11 cents a share, a year earlier. The firm had $1.32 billion in revenue in the third quarter, up from $1.02 billion a year ago.

. It also excludes $14 million in after-tax charges for amortization of goodwill and other intangibles associated with the CyBerCorp acquisition. Including these costs, net income was $142 million, or 10 cents a share, in the third quarter.
