A power outage in San Francisco resulted in blackouts across the city, forcing businesses, the U.S. District Courthouse and a subway station to close.

As many as 90,000 people may be without power, according to reports, with traffic in the city's financial district snarled due to traffic lights being out. The San Francisco Office of Emergency was also without power on Friday.

An alert from the city's public transit agency advised commuters to take buses to their destinations downtown.
