President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a "very good" phone conversation this afternoon, touching on a number of pressing issues.

The two leaders discussed the Assad regime in Syria, one of Russia's allies, and "agreed that the suffering in Syria has gone on for far too long and that all parties must do all they can to end the violence," a White House statement read.

Trump and Putin also both agreed that the two must work together to "eradicate terrorism throughout the Middle East."

They also both spoke about how to "best resolve the very dangerous" and ongoing situation in North Korea.
