Netflix (NFLX) - Get Report kicked off the tech earnings season on Tuesday by reporting results that beat for the fourth quarter but that were light on guidance for subscriber numbers for the first quarter. Shares alternated between slight gains and slight losses in after-hours trading.
Netflix added 8.76 million paid streaming subs during the quarter, topping guidance of 7.6 million, but its Q1 guidance for 7 million streaming paid net adds was below a consensus of 8.88 million. Revenue of $5.47 billion slightly beat a $5.45 billion consensus, while EPS of $1.30 beat a $0.52 consensus.
