Amazon Inc.  (AMZN) - Get, Inc. Report CEO Jeff Bezos is now the world's wealthiest person, according to Forbes' annual list of the richest people on the planet. Bezos' fortune rose by $39.2 billion over the past 12 months as Amazon's stock has jumped by nearly 60% during that time.

Bezos' fortune sits at $112 billion, followed by Microsoft Corp.  (MSFT) - Get Microsoft Corporation (MSFT) Report founder Bill Gates at $90 billion and Berkshire Hathaway Inc.  (BRK.B) - Get Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Class B Report  Chairman Warren Buffett at $84 billion.

Luxury goods magnate Bernard Arnault, leader of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE, saw his fortune rise by $30.5 billion last year. He is the richest European for the first time since 2012 and the fourth-richest person in the world.

Facebook Inc.  (FB) - Get Facebook, Inc. Class A Report CEO Mark Zuckerberg rounded out the top five with a fortune of $71 billion.

President Donald Trump's fortune fell by $400 million, according to the magazine, and currently sits at $3.1 billion.

Republican booster brothers Charles and David Koch of Koch Industries shared the eighth spot, both with a fortune of $60 billion. 

Walmart Inc.  (WMT) - Get Walmart Inc. Report execs S. Robson Walton and Alice Walton took the 15th and 16th spots with fortunes of $46.2 billion and $46 billion, respectively. Lukas Walton is the list's youngest entrant with a fortune of $15.9 billion. Alice Walton is the world's richest woman, followed by Francoise Bettencourt Meyers of the L'Oreal empire with a fortune of $42.2 billion. 

Alibaba Ltd.  (BABA) - Get Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. Sponsored ADR Report CEO Jack Ma is the world's 20th richest person with an estimated fortune of $39 billion. He is the second-richest person of Chinese decent on the list, behind Tencent Holdings Ltd.  (TCEHY) CEO Ma Huateng who checked in at No. 17 with a fortune $45.3 billion.

Forbes used the stock prices and exchange rates from Feb. 9, 2018, to compile its list while also valuing assets such as private companies, real estate, art and other things.
