was the big winner of the day. Goldman ended the day up $2.46 at $167.35. The firm announced 110 new partners and 321 managing directors as part of its annual promotion.
Citigroup

shares closed up 11 cents at $4.30
American International Group
(AIG) - Get Report
closed up 78 cents at $42.56. The insurer
its offer to exchange 74.5 million equity units until Tuesday evening as it prepares for a massive conversion of the U.S. Treasury Department's preferred stake.
There were some losers Thursday.
Regions Financial
(RF) - Get Report
shares closed down 23 cents at $5.31 after Fitch Ratings lowered Regions ratings to BBB-.
Fifth Third Bancorp
(FITB) - Get Report
was also a big loser Thursday, ending the day down 31 cents at $12.08.
