Get the Skinny on the Sorenson Squeeze

You can make and compress professional-looking videos for product demos and more.

LOS ANGELES -- Don't play yourself by using YouTube to post corporate videos. Those videos often end up looking blurred and unprofessional. Enter the Sorenson Squeeze 5. With this program, you can shoot high resolution/definition HD video and output itto create a much smaller size file. These compressed files can be emailed without looking grainy or blurred.

Next up, Gadget Grrl says there are a number of mouse devices on the market, but the Evoluent Vertical Mouse takes it to a whole new level, literally. While some mice are smaller, flatter or wider, this company has decided to go tall -- thus the "vertical" in its name. The mouse is designed so that your hand sits to the right (there is also a left-handed model).

Now more about the Squeeze.

Video has become more and more important to a company's online presence.Whether it's a product or service demo or training videos for your sales team, making a video is one thing -- posting it so it's clear enough to view is another.

Some companies have used sites like to load their videos, but oftenthe videos end up looking very low resolution, and sometimes they are so blurredit''s hard to tell what is going on.

A real solution to this problem is a software called Sorenson Squeeze 5.

With this program you can shoot high resolution/definition HD video and output itto create a much smaller size as a Flash, Quicktime, Windows Media, MPEG-1, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 file. That also means that a huge video file that you could not send via email before can now be compressed down (without looking grainy or blurred) and sent.

What I liked about this program is that you don't have to be a rocket scientist to use it.The interface is clearly laid out, and once you have imported a video file, it's simple tooutput that same file into one that is much more useful online. And to save time, you can "squeeze" several files at the same time. You don't have to compress them one at a time. There is Blu-ray output, so that if you are creating a DVD, it will play on the latest players.

There is a plug-in called, Sound Soap, this enables you to clean up noise or crackling sounds from an audio track. If your company sales manager videotapes a product demo and suddenly a fire alarm goes off, with this plug-in, you can remove it.

Another great feature on this, especially for mobile executives, is the ability to output a video file to an

iPod, iPhone, or any mobile or PSP. So, video presentations do not have to be viewed on a laptop.

Unlike other mice where your forearm has to twist down, with this one it remains positioned to the side, where there are three buttons, the first top button for left click, a scroll wheel under that, second button for right click, and the third button for back. On the opposite side of the mouse ,where you thumb is resting, is another button to go forward.

It takes a little getting used to at first, but once you are accustomed to the new mouse, it's easy to use. The mouse works on both a PC and a Mac and comes in a wired and wireless model.
