Park Geun-hye, the ousted and former president of South Korea, was arrested early Friday morning local time as a result of an investigation into allegations of corruption. It has been claimed that Park Geun-hye had abused her position by participating in a bribery scheme involving tech giant Samsung (SSNLF)
Prosecutors are seeking a formal indictment in the next 20 days, the Los Angeles Times reports. A judge in South Korea determined on Thursday that there was sufficient evidence to pursue Geun-Hye's arrest. Several others said to be involved with the scandal have already been arrested and are awaiting trial.
