is recalling another 4.5 million vehicles due to a defective cruise control switch that could cause a fire, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Tuesday -- news that sent shares of the company falling just prior to the closing bell.
The stock finished at $7.62, after shedding more than 20 cents in late-afternoon trading.
The list includes cars and trucks between 1992 and 2003, including 1.1 million Windstar minivan and Explorer SUV.
This is the company's seventh recall due to the
speed control switches. The switch has resulted in 14.3 million recalls, the largest in Ford's history.
