Excluding a charge, fourth-quarter earnings for the information-systems developer totaled $128.6 million, or 41 cents a share, matching estimates, according to data from
First Call/Thomson Financial
. Unisys earned $144.4 million, or 46 cents a share, in the year-ago period.
Unisys, based in Blue Bell, Pa., said revenue fell 1.6% to $1.93 billion from $1.96 billion, a move that reflected the strong dollar overseas.
In early afternoon activity, Unisys was trading at $15, down $1.69, or 10.1% on the
New York Stock Exchange
The company also forecast first-quarter earnings of 20 cents to 25 cents a share and fiscal 2001 income of $1.25 to $1.35. Analysts expect the company to earn 28 cents in the first quarter and $1.35 for the year, according to First Call.
