In the same period a year ago the department store operator posted earnings of $2.82 a share on sales of $8.7 billion.
The stock has fallen 27.6% since the company last reported earnings on Nov. 14, hurt by a full-year guidance cut in early January.
Quarterly estimates have fallen 4.5 cents a share in the past month. Macy's is currently trading at a price-to-forward-earnings ratio of 7.6 based on the 12-month estimates of 18 analysts surveyed by FactSet.
