F5 Networks (FFIV - Get Report) shares advanced in late trading on Wednesday after the Seattle network-security and -optimization provider reported fiscal-fourth-quarter revenue and adjusted earnings that exceeded estimates.
For the quarter ended Sept. 30, F5 earned $1.57 a share compared with $2.18 in the year-earlier quarter. The adjusted numbers were $2.59 against $2.90. A survey of analysts by FactSet was expecting adjusted earnings of $2.55 a share.
Revenue for the period rose 4.9% to $590.4 million from $562.7 million. The FactSet-derived survey was looking for $582.4 million.
For the fiscal 2020 first quarter, F5 said it expected adjusted earnings of $2.41 to $2.44 a share on revenue of $560 million to $570 million.
The FactSet survey is looking for $2.51 a share of adjusted profit on sales of $572.7 million.
In after-hours trading Wednesday, F5 shares are 7.4% higher at $148.50. They had closed the regular session down 0.6%.
