The stock gained $13.25, or 10%, to $147.65 in after-hours trading.
Coupa said it made 7 cents a share, on revenue of $95.1 million for the latest period.
The company had been expected to lose 10 cents a share on revenue of $85.4 million, based on a FactSet survey of 16 analysts.
In the same period a year ago the company posted earnings of 5 cents a share on sales of $61.7 million.
Coupa also raised its full-year revenue forecast to a range of $369 million to $372 million, compared with an earlier forecast of $342 million to $344 million.
