American Eagle Outfitters

reported fourth-quarter earnings this morning that beat Wall Street's estimates by 3 cents, and the clothing retailer said same-store sales rose 11.3% from the same period in the prior year.

For the fourth quarter ended Feb. 3, American Eagle earned $49.1 million, or 68 cents a share, up from $37.1 million, or 51 cents a share, last year. Nineteen analysts surveyed by

First Call/Thomson Financial

expected the retailer, which is based in Warrendale, Pa., to earn 65 cents a share.

American Eagle posted fourth-quarter revenue of $423.7 million, up from $285.4 million in the same period one year ago.
