E-commerce and cloud giant Amazon (AMZN - Get Report) posted a top and bottom line beat for the first-quarter on Thursday after the close. Shares were volatile after hours but were lately trading down 0.4% to $1,894.94.
Amazon reported EPS of $7.09 versus consensus estimates of $4.72, and revenues of $59.70 billion vs. estimates of $59.65 billion. The company said it expects Q2 operating income of $2.6 billion to $3.6 billion, below a $4.19 billion consensus estimate, likely signaling higher-than-expected spending. Second quarter revenue guidance was $59.5 billion to $63.5 billion, versus a $62.39 billion consensus estimate.
