Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based Merck (MRK) - Get Report reported a profit on Tuesday of $1.64 billion, or 78 cents per share, beating out analysts predictions of earnings per share of 74 cents and revenue of $5.98 billion. The maker of numerous drugs, including Singulair, Zostavax and Fosamax, credits restricting and lower fourth-quarter costs for materials and production with boosting the bottom line.

Cisco

(CSCO) - Get Report

,

Pfizer

(PFE) - Get Report

and

Microsoft

(MSFT) - Get Report

.
