Countrywide Credit Industries
said Wednesday that fiscal third-quarter earnings fell slightly short of Wall Street's predictions.
The company said it earned $95.4 million, or 80 cents a share, below the $100.6 million, or 87 cents it earned in the year-ago period. Thirteen analysts polled by

were expecting earnings of 81 cents per share. The mortgage banking company blamed the shortfall on increased amortization and impairment.
