Comcast (CMCSA) - Get Comcast Corporation Class A Report and Verizon (VZ) - Get Verizon Communications Inc. Report have joined in the pursuit of 21st Century Fox (FOXA) - Get Fox Corporation Class A Report   assets, according to a published report late Thursday.

The move follows discussions between Disney (DIS) - Get Walt Disney Company Report and the Rupert Murdoch-owned media conglomerate, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Comcast is reportedly interested in buying a substantial piece of 21st Century Fox, while Verizon's interest is still in the preliminary stages, according to the report.

Assets potentially for sale include Twentieth Century Fox studio, U.S. cable operations and international businesses. Fox news, the company's sports channels and Fox broadcast network haven't been included in the talks, the Journal reported.
