There have been only brief moments of respite for the technology sector through midday Friday, and though things have been known to turn on a dime, it appears as if there will be little relief in tech land heading into the weekend.

The

Nasdaq

was down 209.81, or 5.7%. to 3466.97 in recent trading. Earlier, it slipped through support at 3500 before bottoming at 3375.11.

TheStreet.com Internet Sector

index was down 55.66, or 6.8%, to 757.36 after trading as low as 725.75.

TheStreet.com New Tech 30 was down 48.59, or 9.7%, to 454.53.

Added to what has gone on for most of the rest of the week, losses were pretty steep. Among traditional Net names,

was down 7 1/2, or 5.5%, to 128 5/8;

America Online

was down 2 7/8, or 5%, at 56 3/8;

CMGI

(CMGI)

was off 7 1/2, or 11%, at 58 3/4 ; and

priceline.com

was down 6 3/8, or 10%, at 55 3/4.

Infrastructure and business-to-business plays were getting hammered as well.
