) -- Stocks finished Wednesday on a positive note as

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said interest rates would remain low until late 2014

The

Dow Jones Industrial Average

rose 83.1 points, or 0.66%, to 12,758.85. The

S&P 500

increased 11.41 points to 1,326.06 and the

Nasdaq Composite

saw gains of 31.67 points to 2,818.31.

Breadth within the Dow was positive with 23 of the index's 30 components posting gains.

Catepillar shares rose 2.6% Tuesday to $109.05. The industrial company is scheduled to announce its fourth-quarter results on Thursday. Analysts, on average, expect earnings of $1.73 per share and $16.05 billion in revenue.

gives Caterpillar a B+ grade with a buy rating and a

price target.

Shares of DuPont rose 2.39% to $50.59 after the chemical giant reported

a fourth-quarter profit of 35 cents a share and revenue of $8.77 billion

Travelers shares increased 1.98% to $59.15. The insurance company reported
