was rising more than 116 points, or 0.94%, to 12,527. Leading the Dow higher were

Boeing

Bank of America

(BAC) - Get Report

.

Shares of Boeing rose 2.72% to $72.02. The aerospace stock was

upgraded to outperform

by Bernstein analysts on Tuesday with a $92 price target.

The stock has fallen 1.81% year to date.

Bank of America shares gained 2.54% to $7.47. The stock has risen 34.26% year to date.

The biggest decliner in the blue-chip index midday Tuesday was

United Technologies

. Shares dropped 21 cents, or 0.28%, to $74.41.

The industrial company announced Tuesday that it plans to offer $1 billion of equity units to help finance its acquisition of

Goodrich

(GR)

.

United Technologies' stock has risen 1.75% year to date.
