No Ringing Endorsement for iPhone 6s

Originally published at 2:04 PM EDT on September 22, 2015

The Wall Street Journal has reviewed the iPhone 6s, citing "proof that smartphone innovation has plateaued."

I re-established my Apple (AAPL) - Get Report short and have added to the position over the last few days.

Position: Short AAPL

Adding to My AAPL Short

I'm adding to my short of Apple (AAPL) - Get Report today.

Apple's watchOS2 is still a "no show" after missing last week's schedule update, where company executives spent a good portion of their presentation hyping the new software (which is intended to boost usefulness and increase sales).

Where is it? Not even a mention by the media.

Apple gets a huge pass sometimes -- or rather, very often.

Position: Short AAPL

Short Trade of the Week

Originally published at 10:26 AM EDT on September 21, 2015

This week's "Short Trade of the Week" is a short of Comcast (CMCSA) - Get Report at $57.67.

As previously discussed, Comcast faces fundamental challenges in the intermediate term.

In the near term, the stock also faces technical issues, namely lower lows and lower highs.

Position: Short CMCSA

Why I'm Bullish on Banks

Originally published at 9:59 AM EDT on September 21, 2015

The one group that I aggressively purchased last week amid weakness was banks, making  Bank of America (BAC) - Get Report my "Long Trade of the Week" at $15.55.

I took these moves despite the fact that a number of "talking heads" on the business-TV networks were expressing Pavlovian reactions to suggest selling the group.

I think they'll be proven wrong, especially over the intermediate term.

A rapid improvement of banks' income and net interest margin was never part of my equation.
