Apple (AAPL) - Get Report will begin assembling iPhones in India for the first time in four to six weeks, government officials told the Wall Street Journal.

Taiwanese contract manufacturer Wistron is expected start making iPhone 6 and 6S models at its plant in Bangalore.

"Almost all preparations have been done for launching Apple's first phase project in Bangalore through Wistron," the official said.
