Amazon has been a revenue growth story with margins continuing to be squeezed. Analysts are expecting operating margins to plunge to 1.33% from 3.54% and gross margins to fall to 23.1% from 23.5%.

While it will be too early for any data related to Amazon's tablet, investors are expecting some color regarding pre-orders of the Kindle Fire on the company's conference call. Analysts are expecting the Kindle Fire will be a loss leader for the company, but Amazon is expected to make up for this with higher sales of its digital media like e-books, videos and music.

Wall Street is looking for a profit of 24 cents per share, half of last year's EPS of 51 cents. Revenue is expected to jump 45% to $10.9 billion.
