HP, Chevron, Intel: Dow Movers - TheStreet

) -- U.S. stocks

plunged

on Thursday, weighed down by a batch of gloomy economic data and disappointment with the outcome of the

Federal Reserve's

latest policy meeting.

The

Dow Jones Industrial Average

fell 251 points, or 1.96%, to close at 12,573.57. The

S&P 500

dropped 2.23% to finish at 1325.51 and the

Nasdaq Composite

lost 2.44% to settle at 2859.

Breadth within the Dow was negative with 28 of the 30 components posting losses.

.

Shares of HP fell 4.09% to $20.30. The stock has lost 21.2% year to date.

Chevron shares dropped 3.48% to $100.02. The stock has fallen 6% year to date.

Shares of Intel lost 3.36% to $26.71. The stock has risen 10.14% year to date.

The only gainers in the blue-chip index on Thursday were
