finally nabbed itself a new leader in Robert Benmosche, according to a report by the

Wall Street Journal

Benmosche replaces Edward Liddy, according to the Journal, citing people familiar with the matter. Liddy took the reigns at AIG in September, when the government rescued the company from bankruptcy.

Benmosche has served as chairman and CEO of

MetLife

(MET) - Get MetLife, Inc. Report

until March 2006.

AIG is currently in the process of selling pieces of the company to repay its outstanding $85 billion loan from the government.
