) -- Several stocks trading under $10 were poised to move on above-average volume in Wednesday's session.

Shares of

Achillion Pharmaceuticals

(ACHN) - Get Report

gained 57 cents, or 18%, to $3.75 in the premarket session. Late Tuesday, the company announced positive results from a trial of its hepatitis C drug. It's the second time in the last week that Achillion has been among the most active stocks during Nasdaq's premarket. The 50-day average daily volume for Achillion is 287,000 shares, according to Nasdaq.

pSivida

(PSVD)

shares jumped by more than $2, or 59%, to $5.60 in premarket trading. Like Achillion, the company announced positive results of a drug trial, this one for a treatment designed to address eye-linked diabetes issues. The 50-day average daily volume for pSivida is just 69,000 shares.

Ballard Power Systems

(BLDP) - Get Report

shares rose 28 cents, or 15%, to $2.09 in the premarket session, a day after the company said it had inked a deal with

Daimler

( DAI) to supply the car-maker with fuel-cell products. The 50-day average daily volume for Ballard Power is 273,000 shares.

FSI International

( FSII) shares leapt 30 cents, or 15%, to $2.30 in the premarket session. The company reported a narrower first-quarter loss and higher sales than in the year ago period. The 50-day average daily volume for FSI is 268,000 shares.
