The Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling was falling 432 points, or 1.71%, to 24,884 as blue chips tumbled in the wake of disappointing earnings.

Here are how some of the Dow's biggest components were faring during Tuesday's selloff.

Caterpillar Inc. (CAT - Get Report) declined 6.8% despite beating earnings' estimates. 

3M Co. (MMM - Get Report) fell 4.5% on a profit miss and trimmed earnings guidance.

Microsoft Corp. (MSFT - Get Report) fell 2.15%. 

Visa Inc. (V - Get Report) dropped 1.9%. 

It wasn't all bad for the Dow on Tuesday, however. Strong earnings from McDonald's helped stem some of the losses. However, only four of the Dow's 30 components were trading in the green. 

McDonald's Corp. (MCD - Get Report) gained 6.2% following its earnings beat.

Verizon Communications Inc (VZ - Get Report) rose 3.86%.

United Technologies Corp. (UTX - Get Report) rose 2.22%.

Procter & Gamble Co. (PG - Get Report)  was flat.
