Zombie Accounts Are Putting Your Personal Data at Risk

Zombie accounts, or accounts that cyber thieves re-open, are an often overlooked liability.

Have an old online checking account you don't use any more? It might be putting your personal data at risk. Cyber thieves can use these "zombie accounts" to pilfer critical data like your Social Security number & financial information.

Fortunately, you can protect yourself. Reach out to your service provider and make sure you properly close any outstanding accounts. And stop using the same password for everything...

In short, the more online accounts that you have that contain sensitive personal information, the more likely you are to become a victim of identity theft.
