AFC Championship rematch, this time in New England

NFL Fans and fantasy football players get a great gift at 4:25 pm (est) on Sunday when the Chiefs take the field against the Patriots. It's a rematch of last year's AFC Championship, which the Patriots won 37-31 in Kansas City. This week's battle is in Foxboro where the Patriots will look to overcome their Week 13 loss to the Texans while the Chiefs look to extend their two game winning streak.

Currently sitting at 10-2, the Patriots hold the Number Two seed in the AFC while the Chiefs are fourth with an 8-4 record. With a win over the Chiefs and a loss by the Ravens (10-2) the Pats would be back in 1st place. If the Chiefs win, they would only be a game behind New England for the AFC's second seed. If the Bills beat the Ravens, the Patriots and Buffalo would share the same record, making a very tight race in the AFC East to close out the season.

From a fantasy football perspective, this match-up is loaded with superstars. Though quarterback Tom Brady hasn't been as consistent in fantasy he has a good match-up against a mediocre Kansas City Defense. Chiefs passer Patrick Mahomes has a much tough test as the Bill Belichick coached defense gives up the least amount of points to opposing passers according to our partners at FantasySP. Wide receiver Julian Edelman and Tyreek Hill are both lock and load starters in every fantasy format, as is Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. But the backfields can be a bit more head-scratching. Kansas City has already ruled out both Darrel Williams and Damien Williams. That opens the door for rookie Darwin Thompson to get his biggest workload of his career while splitting time with LeSean McCoy. For the Patriots, James White is about as consistent as they come in the PPR format. The Chiefs give up the second most points to opposing running backs, which puts Sony Michel in a great spot to have his best performance of the year.
