Saquon Barkley's Handcuff: Can Wayne Gallman Really Save Your Fantasy Football Team?

Bill Enright

New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley is expected to miss the next four-to-eight weeks of action. Everyone is rushing to the Waiver Wire to pickup Wayne Gallman, but is he really the savior that fantasy managers need?

Fantasy Football Commandment: Handcuff Your Studs

One of our commandments for winning fantasy football here at Bull Market Fantasy is to handcuff your stud players. It's like buying insurance for your new car. When fantasy football managers drafted Saquon Barkley, they invested a top three overall pick in the Giants running back. Now that Barkley is out four-to-eight weeks with a high ankle sprain, Barkley owners are rushing to the Waiver Wire to grab his handcuff, Wayne Gallman. Of course, if they followed this crucial commandment, Gallman would already be on their roster, instead they're now jockeying for position against their league for the opportunity to pick him up off waivers.

What Does Wayne Gallman Bring To Your Fantasy Football Team?

The third year back out of Clemson has backed up Saquon Barkley since the Giants took the electrifying rusher with the second overall pick in the 2018 draft. Thanks to Barkley's injury, Gallman is now the starter but as Jim Cramer and his team of fantasy football analysts discuss, fantasy managers can't expect the same production from Gallman that they were getting with Barkley.

Won't be anywhere near productive as Saquon but fills a hole and will produce enough to keep you afloat.

It's a wait and see but hopefully he'll be able to put some numbers up.

I picked Gallman in one of my leagues. Hoping for big things in a FLEX spot.
