Raiders Officially Cut Antonio Brown
Antonio Brown has officially been cut by the Oakland Raiders just two days before they take the field for the first time in the 2019 regular season.
The saga between Brown and the Raiders was amplified over the last 72 hours when Brown got into a verbal and nearly physical altercation with General Manager Mike Mayock. Brown then apologized to the team in front of the media, but later posted a secretly recorded conversation between and Head Coach Jon Gruden and ultimately asked to be released. Brown got his wish and will now forfeit his $50 million contract which included $30 million in guarantees.
Antonio Brown Signs one Year Deal With the New England Patriots
Brown saw a drastic change in Average Draft Position throughout the summer. Originally a projected mid-second round pick in Fantasy Football drafts, the former Steelers stud receiver missed practically all of training camp due to a variety of crazy antics including a problem with league issued helmets and frostbite on his feet. In some leagues his ADP fell into the late 7th round. But now that he'll be catching passes from QB Tom Brady and is on the roster of the reigning Super Bowl Champions, Brown should absolutely reward any fantasy manager that rolled the dice on the superstar receiver.
Tom Brady Has Best Receiving Corps In The NFL
Now that Brown is on the Patriots, Tom Brady's receiving corps is perhaps the best in the league. Brown joins wide receiver Julian Edelman and Josh Gordon as part of Brady's aerial arsenal. Brady gets a major boost in value considering Brown has been one of the most productive receivers in the league the last six season. A dominant force in fantasy while playing in Pittsburgh, Brown is coming off his 6th straight season of over 1,200 yards and 100 catches and caught double digit TDs in four of those seasons.
QB Derek Carr and the Raiders Fantasy Football Options
With Brown officially off t the Raiders will turn to Tyrell Williams and Hunter Renfrow as their starting receivers. Not exactly two players that will impose their will on opposing defensive backs. Quarterback Derek Carr will most certainly finish outside the Top 25 at the QB position and is essentially worthless on fantasy teams.
