AFC and NFC Championships Opening Odds
During the Divisional Playoffs, we saw three home teams (and favorites) and one underdog advance to the Conference Championships. With the match-ups set in the NFC (Buccaneers vs. Packers) and AFC (Bills vs. Chiefs), it's time to look at the opening odds and point totals for both games.
According to our partners from DraftKings SportsBook, the Packers are favored by 3.5 points over the Bucs and the Over/Under is 50.5. If you are like Jim Cramer and Bill Enright, you are really pumped to see Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady battle. It is suppose to be cold, below 30 degrees at Lambeau Field with a small chance of snow. Green Bay is 11-6 against the spread, 6-3 as a home favorite, and 9-4 against conference opponents. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay is 10-8 against the spread and 1-1 as an away underdog.
We saw this match-up earlier in the season back in Week 6 and Tampa trounced Green Bay 38-10. Rodgers had his worst game of the season, 160 yards, no touchdowns, with two interceptions (including one interception returned for a touchdown). Ronald Jones had a big game in their regular-season match-up, rushing for 113 yards and two scores. Green Bay typically struggles against the run but usually, they get out to such a big lead, their opponent have to abandon the run and is forced into passing. That's something former NFL quarterback Carson Palmer says Tampa Bay shouldn't do in the NFC Championship. Palmer played for Bucs head coach Bruce Arians when the two were part of the Cardinals franchise. You can watch our full conversation with Palmer here.
For the AFC Championship, we have the Bills and the Chiefs. Right now Kansas City is 3 point favorites and the Over/Under is at 53. Like the Packers and Bucs, the Chiefs and Bills also met during the regular season with the reigning Super Bowl Champs winning 26-17. K.C. covered the 5.5 spread in that game, but the Chiefs were brutal this year against the spread, with a 7-10 record. Meanwhile, the Bills are 12-6 ATS and is 4-1 ATS as an underdog.
Worried about placing a bet until there's more news on Patrick Mahomes' availability. Carson Palmer also told us he'd be shocked if Mahomes didn't play on Sunday.
