The Biden administration's order to mandate vaccination or regular testing or COVID-19 for all workers of companies with more than 100 employees has been delayed until after the holidays. The new deadline is Jan. 4, 2022.
The update also applies to federal contractors and healthcare providers. The newly released rules issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration under the Labor Department also require unvaccinated workers to begin wearing masks indoors by Dec. 5 and provide a negative COVID-19 test on a weekly basis after Jan. 4.
The order affects approximately 100 million private sector and healthcare workers within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services programs.
The business community is divided on the subject with opposition from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, National Retail Federation, The National Association of Manufacturers, and The AFL-CIO, which represents the largest group of unions in the U.S.
