Elyse Andrews is a writer and communications consultant from Somerville, Mass. She began her career in the newspaper business, working at USA Today, Newsday and at The Olympian as a Dow Jones Newspaper Fund Copy Editing Intern. Elyse was previously the Editor of Cabot Wealth Advisory and the Email Marketing Manager at Cabot Heritage Corporation, a financial publishing company. Her time there coincided with the financial crisis, which provided a literal crash course on the markets. Three years ago, Elyse founded the Somerville Beat, an online magazine covering her city from a local's perspective. During that time she has also worked as a freelance writer and communications consultant covering everything from local news and features to health and wellness and online marketing best practices. Elyse graduated from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and Maxwell School with a dual degree in newspaper journalism and political science. In her off hours, Elyse enjoys old-fashioned media like books and the radio, cooking and traveling.
Since Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos purchased 'The Washington Post' in 2013, investments in newsroom resources and digital strategy have started paying off, in the form of eyeballs -- and revenue.
