Even With Amazon, Online Shopping Is Still Small Compared to Brick-and-Mortar

Yes, brick-and-mortar stores are facing threats from online channels such as Amazon (AMZN) . But here's a statistic that will put the shopping landscape in perspective: online shopping only represents 8.4% of total retail sales, according to Sarah Quinlan, sr. vice president at MasterCard (MA) .

Consumers are laser focused on experiential spending, according to Quinlan, hence why airline and travel spending has been on the rise.
