Starbucks Says May Same-Store Sales Climb 7%

said May same-store sales rose 7%, while the coffee-shop operator's total revenue climbed 23% for the month.
In a press release after the close Thursday, Starbucks said revenue reached $319 million for the four weeks ended May 25, compared with $260 million for the same period in fiscal 2002.
The company said its same-store sales growth was especially strong because it was up against a 10% increase in comparable sales in the year-ago period.
For the 34 weeks ended May 25, consolidated net revenue totaled $2.6 billion, an increase of 23% from the year-ago period. Same-store sales increased 8% for the 34-week timeframe.
